Opioid Treatment Program

Opiate treatment programs use prescribed opiates as a treatment for addiction or dependence on opiates including heroin or overuse or misuse of prescribed opiates.

Some doctors at Interchange are endorsed prescribers and may be able to prescribe opiate treatment options including methadone, Suboxone, Subutex in specific cases. We also have depot buprenorphine brands Buvidal and Sublocade available for prescribing and administration on site.

Our endorsed prescribers are:

Dr Marianne Bookallil
Prof Kirsty Douglas
Dr Emily Jehne
Dr James Manley
Dr Paul Appleton ( not taking new patients)

When calling to book an appointment, Reception will ask you whether you require an endorsed prescriber. This is so we can book you with the appropriate Doctor.

Being on an opiate treatment program may include doing an ECG to check your heart rhythm; urine drug screens; and / or screening for blood borne viruses such as hepatitis. Opiate treatment is only part of your overall health so we will encourage you to address other preventative health while you’re seeing us.

If you are wanting to transfer from interstate or from another prescriber please be aware these medications need specific approvals. We cannot guarantee we can start you on the medication on the day of your appointment. We would welcome dosing histories or exit forms at info@ihco.net.au
