BOARD MEMBERS

Interchange Health Co-Op is overseen by a Board of between five and nine Directors elected by the members of the IHC at its Annual General Meeting.  The Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring adherence to our principles of patient care, setting strategic direction, and assuring financial sustainability for the business.

Directors supervise Interchange Health Co-Op on behalf of the members. All Directors must comply with the requirements of  the Co-operatives National Law (ACT) Act 2017

Dee Hopkins

Chair
GAICD, MBA, PGDip

Dee Hopkins has held national and ACT leadership and board positions in the for-purpose sector for more than 25 years.  She was most recently the CEO of the Macular Disease Foundation Australia in Sydney and prior to that was a National Director at Medicines Australia.  For ten years she was the CEO at Carers ACT leading advocacy and a wide range of services and supports for family carers and individuals with dementia and disability.  Dee is a passionate advocate for equitable and accessible health services for all Australians and was appointed to numerous Federal and ACT Ministerial Advisory Councils and Taskforces.  She is now the Founding Managing Director of Sage Partners Australia offering governance and strategic management counsel to for purpose organisations – helping organisations that do good, do better.

Dr Christine Phillips

Director

Dr Christine Phillips has worked as a GP at Interchange General Practice and Hobart Place General Practice for 25 years. She is the Clinical Director at Companion House the ACT’s refugee health care service. Professor Christine Phillip leads the Social Foundations of Medicine group at the ANU Medical School, where she instituted a curriculum integrating the social sciences of medicine and health across all four years of medical education. Professor Christine Phillips (AM) honored as a Member of the Order of Australia for her significant service to medical education, to migrant and refugee health, and to medicine.

Gareth Norman

Director

MBA

Gareth has 30 years of senior leadership experience in the UK, Australia and Europe in a variety of industries with the last 18 years as a senior executive across Aged, Disability, and extended health care. Gareth has supported a diverse range of organisations in Australia, including for-purpose, for-profit and ASX listed entities. 

Throughout his career, Gareth has led transformative change initiatives, prioritising the well-being of individuals and delivering measurable results. His strong governance background ensures sound decision-making and adherence to ethical standards. 

Gareth has a particular interest in governance, supporting executive leaders to establish successful arrangements and protocols to achieve successful outcomes. Gareth provides coaching and mentorship to senior executive leaders and boards on matters such as board reporting, executive capability assessments, board structures and establishing and maintaining successful working relationships between executives and boards.

Steven Eddi

Director BS B.Accounting CPA

Steven is an accountant in the Australian Public Service specialising in financial policy processes and improvements.  He brings financial and analytic skills to the Board of IHCO.  Coming from a family with a complex history of medical diagnoses, Steven hopes to dedicate his skills to ensuring the absolute best care is accessible to all on an affordable basis and is a firm believer in patients' agency in medical decisions.

Steven is the father of six very active boys.  In his (rare) spare time Steven enjoys learning about everything from particle physics to culinary history.  He also teaches community classes, which he releases as a regular podcast.

Rodney Little

Director

Rod is a proud Yamatji and Nyoongar man of the Wilunyu and Wadjuk peoples of Western Australia, living in Canberra. 

He is a small business owner and company director consulting in professional services, specialising in the areas of cultural integrity, governance, and leadership. He has extensive advocacy experience in many social areas and is passionate about and committed to enhancing the health and capabilities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities. 

Rod has held senior leadership positions, including in health, justice, education, and employment and is a champion of collaborative approaches. Rod is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a director on a number of not-for-profit boards.

Joanne Ramadge

Director (Casual Vacancy)

Joanne is a registered nurse and has a background in health care management, regulation, policy and education primarily in the public and not-for-profit sectors. She has held senior leadership roles in the Department of Health and in Cancer Australia, a health portfolio agency, and as a CEO of two not for profit health care related organisations. 

Joanne holds a number of degrees including a graduate degree in Not-For-Profit management and a PhD in health and is a Graduate of the Australian Company Directors Course. More recently, Joanne completed a Specialist Certificate at the University of Melbourne. 

Joanne has had board experience locally and internationally and is currently Chair of the Tuggeranong Community Arts Association.
