Dr Melanie Dorrington is not taking new patients.

Dr Melanie Dorrington is originally from the Port Stephens region of NSW, and completed her B.Biomedical Science (Hons) at the University of Newcastle in 2002 before working overseas and back in Newcastle, and then moving to Sydney (and Broken Hill and Orange) to complete her MBBS at the University of Sydney (2008). 

She moved to Canberra to undertake her hospital training years, including a rotation in general practice at the Interchange General Practice in the city, which was when she decided to train as a GP. She completed her GP training in Canberra, including an academic post with the ANU and Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Service, before moving work to Bungendore. 

Dr Dorrington has also enjoyed working in several non-clinical roles such as a clinical editor with ACT/SNSW HealthPathways, GP liaison officer for the Monaro region in SNSW, and acting as GP policy advisor and director of the Academic Unit of General Practice for ACT Health. She has special interest in women’s health, sexual health, pregnancy care and contraception (including implant & IUD insertions, and non-directive pregnancy counselling and accessing abortion), and has her Certificate of Sexual and Reproductive Health. 

In her spare time she is busy with her husband, 2 children, 1 dog and 3 chickens, and trying to stay healthy
